| 7 months | for nikki's contacts |
Two days ago you turned 7 months old. The month has flown by so fast that I can't seem to document all the changes you've gone through.
For starters, you're fully a solid food eater now. We've tried several kinds on you and you've somehow picked out your favorites. You seem to like orange/ yellow foods ... carrots, squash, sweet potatoes ... mixed with a little cereal and formula milk. And oh, peas too! Jarred fruits, not so much. You prefer the real ones, like bananas for instance. You definitely don't have a thing for green beans, although you're nice enough to finish off what's been prepared for you. You would just crinkle up your face in this "ulk! yuck!"look of yours with matching gag-me-with-a spoon reaction. Kenkoy kaayo!
can i feed myself, mom?
guess who fed me this time --- si daddy! kamuritsing lang!
And you're eating a lot now, 3 times a day and snacks in between, much like adults do. You're a big girl na, Baby. Before we know it, you'd be ordering your own kiddie meals at restaurants when we eat out. Awww! You still nurse here and there, but you're slowly warming up to your formula and bottle. I have a feeling it won't be long when you wean from my boobie. I won't rush you, baby, I'll take my cue from you.
this looks yummy ... can i eat this?
no nikki, you can't ...
You're sitting pretty well and have learned to use your hands for balance. So you're not toppling over as you used to before. You're enjoying this little independence, grabbing hold of whatever toy is closeby and intensely staring at it as if it's some science project you've been working on for months. You look at it at all sides, top to bottom, side to side and all around. It's so much fun just looking at you play. I feel a tug in my heart knowing that pretty soon you'll discover the world is all yours to explore. And mommy will just fade in the background. *sniff* But it'll all be good, sweetie, mommy will always be here. ('nuff of that drama.)
can't read yet ... but i enjoy looking at pictures
Moving on, just a week ago, you also stood up without me holding you, you just held on to your intellitainer. You were still wobbly at the knees but that's good exercise to strengthen up those legs. I don't know if you'll be crawling pretty soon or skip it altogether. Clearly you haven't been reading your weekly babycenter emails because you're not at it yet. Hahaha! But who cares, right? I don't mind you skipping a thing or two.
trying to stand on my own ... daddy's ready to catch me
Another thing we've enjoyed this month is the wonderful California weather. Not too hot and not too cold ... just perfect for going outside. And this month we've been doing that a lot. We've taken you to the Universal Studios near Burbank, to the Getty Center and just around town. You seem to love going out a lot. You enjoy looking at people and places. We took the studio tour at Universal and was worried that you'd get scared at the simulations (with the loud noises and dark places) but you definitely enjoyed it. Promise, we'll go out some more and take you places and show you new things.
my favorite thing to do ... sit & stroll
I spend hours every day making you giggle. This is an easy thing to do. I can just look at you, raise my brows up and down and you'll burst out with laughter. And oh boy, you just love to shriek! Our little we-can-take her-anywhere daughter, our little-babbler, our always-stays-put-behaved little girl has mastered the art of shrieking. Why or what prompts it? Pretty much just because you can and it will usually warrant some type of response. And not just your regular shriek but the ear-splitting type with arms and legs a-flapping. Priceless!
our little gigglebox
I love you so much, baby girl! I cannot fathom my life without you. You make each day bright with your smile and each day, I'm amazed at the wonderful joy of having you in my life.Happy 7 months, Sweetie Pie!
With all my love,
Mommy
