on happy endings

stopped by yesterday at the local barnes & noble to find ly-ly a cd. while browsing through, i overheard two 20-something girls (they look about 20 to me) talking. i didn't mean to listen in to the conversation, but they certainly weren't talking in hushed tones. anyway, they were debating over some friend of theirs getting married at a young age.finally found what i was looking for and was ready to leave, when i caught on this one:

"I so think she's not ready."

"Me too. ""Do you think they'll be happy?"

"Maybe. Yes. I hope. "

"Yeah."

"Happily ever after ... "

"Don't you believe in it?"

"Hmmm" ... pause ... "i'd like to."
"I think I believe in happily ever after."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

Pause

"I think with hardwork, it'll work."

There was a meaningful pause between the two. And I left. And I thought to myself ... yeah, with work. Happy endings come when if you really take time to work on it.
