dear baby,
just got back from another doctor's appointment. mommy's got a pretty busy week, huh? but i don't mind, no, not at all .... it's all for you sweetie! =) and for the very first time, i got to hear your heart beating. it was the most amazing sound i ever heard. (well, okay, mommy's a bit exaggerating here. i'm pretty sure by the time you turn into your teens and read about this, you'll say "aw, shucks mom, that's so corny!" hehhehe ... but who cares? it's my first time ... so indulge me! *wink*)
at first, i couldn't quite figure it out yet ... but there it was ... beating ... so strong ... so clear ... so fast. it's like a song from the heart .. though silently sung.
listening to it is like reliving a dream ... felt so good to hear it. like soothing music. every beat, every little sound creates a buzz that is a joy to listen to.
lub-dub .... lub-dub ... lub-dub ...
not it wasn't that.
th-thump ... th-thump .... th-thump
it didn't sound like that either.
what i was hearing was totally different ... something i couldn't exactly describe ... couldn't imitate. it was the sound of your heart ... beating on its own.
for a couple of minutes, the doctor let me hear you. hear your heartbeat a little bit longer. he must've seen how much i was enjoying it. what with the huge smile plastered on my face ... and my eyes widening at every beat ... and my neck craning towards the monitor to hear it some more.
were you talking to me, my love? or singing to me, perhaps?
like my favorite song ... it kept going and going and going ... even after the tests were done ... it kept playing in my head .... my baby's song silently sung.
