for everyone
Dear Nikki,

i'm a big girl now

A couple days ago you turned 11 months old. 11 months! I feel that phrase should end with a gazillion exclamation points.  Only a month to go and you'll be a year old. Woohoo! I truly have no idea how this year passed by so quickly. Waaaaay too fast. I remember so clearly bringing you home from the hospital and having you sleep soundly on my chest . But now you easily pin me down as you wrestle your way to a standing position on top of my tummy. You've definitely grown from a little tiny baby who's content on lying on her back cooing at the ceiling or the mobile, to a full-fledged, mobile, kinda communicating, cute-as-can be little girl.

during one of those lucky days when she sleeps in her crib

I know this shouldn't come as a surprise, I suppose ... but for months, you have been our baby girl. Now, I'm really not ready yet to see the "baby" part of the description fade so fast. You're turning into this little person. Everyday you do something new, discover something new, delight in something new. I'd look across the room and see you on your feet, enjoying the breeze from the air-conditioner, shrieking, giggling and mumbling, and trying so hard to use mommy's comb on your hair. Other days, we'd drive around town through our errands and I'd look at you from the rear-view mirror and watch you seriously, with brows in middle, (somewhat) reading your favorite brown bear book. And quite frequently, I've seen you pretend to be talking on the phone using whatever it is that's in your hand ... the TV remote, your shoe, your stuffed monkey or mommy's eyeglasses case. You must've gotten that from me ... do I talk on the phone that much? And I think you got my stubborn side too. You know the word "no" now and stop whatever it is you're doing as soon as you hear it, but then you'd smile and do it again. talk about stubborn streaks. hahaha!

hmm ... let's see if they're doing it right

Lately, you've developed a strong attachment to Daddy. You regularly look up at the picture of us in our room and say "dad-dy". Not "papa", not "dada" but "dad-dy". That's right, you've managed to utter those sweet words that just melts our hearts (especially dad's) each time you say it. When daddy comes home you squeal with joy and crawl to him. Just the other night, when got home from work, you greeted him in your usual squeal and shriek mode, and lifted your arms up to him as if asking him to pick you up and hold you. And when daddy did just that, you rested your head against his chest as if saying, "thank you daddy. i'm glad you're home." Awww! That was the sweetest sight ever ... of the two most precious people in my life.

serious kaayo ang duha oi

You're at a fun stage right now. Hanging out with you is such a blast. You laugh and giggle all day, feed me with cheerios, hang out by the air conditioner and are generally an easy going happy kid. We love to watch you entertain yourself. You can play alone (that is, as long as you can see that we're watching you) easily for half an hour or more. You look over and smile at us and just keep right on playing. Your favorite things right now are books, the TV remote and phones. You still love taking baths and now makes a huge mess around the kitchen. Pretty soon I'll be left with no choice but to take you to the bathroom for your baths., which isn't exactly a pleasant thing for my back. You talk non-stop now and your vocabulary has expanded to include all sorts of sounds and tones. You even imitate the sound of the firetruck every time we hear it pass by. Now realizing cause and effect, you pretty much enjoy pulling the string that turns our lights on and off. You already know a couple characters in your favorite books like the brown bear, the doggie and the children and oh, again, the phone. And you're pretty good at waving and saying "Hi" too. And oh yeah, you've learned how to throw temper tantrums. That's been fun. Heh.

got this from ninang lynette
I'm sure all parents are insanely proud when their kids start doing things, but for each new step  you take, I'm in awe. I can't believe you're almost one. So independent, so interactive. ...  and still as smiley and outgoing. Everyday, I love you more and more. I don't want to miss a single moment with you, and find myself missing you when you're napping ... wishing I could just snuggle right up next to you and hold you just so I won't miss a moment of you growing up. Everyday, I love you more and more. And I always will.
can i have some ... puh-lease?

Love always,
Mommy
