went in for her regular well baby visit. the good thing about the 9th month check-up is that there are no immunization shots given this time. just the scheduled anemia and TB tests. dr. weimer wasn't around this time (she was out for a meeting) so it was dr. shimayama who saw her instead. i couldn't wait till next week for dr. weimer since nikki was having the colds (for almost a week now) and for the past day or two, she has started to cough. all we did for the timebeing was plug on the cool mist humidifier and spray saline drops into her nose twice a day. still, i was getting worried.
dr. shimayama was nice. very nice. mental note: if nikki's pedia, dr. weimer isn't around, have her instead. she answered all our questions (i had a laundry list of concerns raised), much to my satisfaction. and she handled nikki pretty well. nikki even thinks so as she gave her doctor a huge smile. all in all, there was nothing to be really worried about. nikki definitely doesn't have an infection whatsoever nor does she have a fever. all she has is a runny nose, which according to her is normal for babies her age would have once in a while. as long as she's not running a fever as high as 101 degrees Fahrenheit.
and now for nikki's stats:
weigh: 17.6 lbs (25%)
height: 29 inches (90%)
head circumference: 18 inches (90%)
looking at those stats, she's turning into a supermodel!, the doctor joked! tall and skinny. but i would have opted that she'd put on more weight. eversince she got the runny nose, her eating habits have gone a few steps back. she's not eating her jarred food as much as she used to and only takes in the snacks of finger foods. good thing she takes her formula quite regularly now. that keeps her full throughout the day.
<sigh> i think i'm growing a white hair or two on my head. and i've got these tension knots on my shoulders. it's not easy having a sick baby around. mao na gyud ning ma-mama na ta!
